Charlotte Gavins is the founder and owner of Acupoint Health, which is based in a relaxing garden therapy clinic in Gateford, Worksop.
She is a registered senior nurse who has over 20 years experience caring for people within the NHS. She has specialised experience in gynaecology, neonatal care and accident & emergency.
After conventional treatments failed to help her own health struggles, Charlotte found real recovery through medical acupuncture and mind-body approaches. Inspired by this experience, she went on to become a certified medical acupuncturist and a specialist in neuroplastic chronic pain, persistent symptoms, and stress-related conditions.
To provide truly integrated, whole-person care under one roof, Charlotte has also trained in Somatic Therapy (Embodied Processing) and is a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for Insomnia (CBT-i): completing her training at the UK’s largest sleep clinic at The Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.
Charlotte trained with the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS), which delivers gold-standard training to healthcare professionals worldwide. She is a fully accredited BMAS practitioner, a trustee for the organisation, and a full member of SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association).
Charlotte’s special interests are treating people with neuroplastic chronic pain and symptoms, sports injuries, mental health and women’s health.

My Journey: A Personal Understanding of Chronic Pain, Persistent Symptoms & Trauma
Living with chronic pain and ongoing symptoms can feel deeply isolating. It’s often hard to find someone who genuinely understands, which is exactly why I do this work today.
My own health journey began in 2018 when I developed sudden, severe back pain that turned my life upside down. My scans showed disc herniations, spinal degeneration with mild nerve root involvement. Like many, I felt devastated when I first saw those MRI images, convinced my body was permanently damaged and my future uncertain. I was told there was nothing that could “fix” my pain and degeneration. Despite trying multiple treatments, the pain persisted.
In 2019, I also experienced a major shock trauma, which led to a diagnosis of PTSD and chronic insomnia. Sleepless nights and a constantly overactive nervous system became my new reality, which affected every aspect of my life.
But I refused to accept this as my only path. Everything changed when I attended a SIRPA conference at The Royal Society of Medicine in London and heard Dr. Howard Schubiner, a leading neuroscientist, speak. That day shifted my belief from “I’m broken” to an “Ah-ha” moment of, “I can recover.”
I began studying and applying the very mind-brain-body approaches I now specialise in, methods that help the brain and nervous system break free from cycles of pain, stress, and trauma. Step by step, I used these techniques to recover.
Today, I live free from chronic pain and trauma symptoms, and I sleep well. I can move, practise yoga, and hike, things I once thought I’d never enjoy comfortably again.
This lived experience means I understand not only the science behind neuroplastic pain, trauma, and stress, but also the emotional weight they carry when recovery feels impossible.
It’s why I’m so passionate about my work at Acupoint Health. No one should feel trapped by pain or persistent symptoms — real recovery is possible. I’m living proof there’s hope and the Acupoint testimonials also speak for themselves.
“Charlotte provides an excellent, professional, and friendly service. She treats the whole person, not just the physical issue, which I find blissfully refreshing.”
